About the Prayagraj Vande Bharat
Both Delhi–Varanasi Vande Bharats stop at Prayagraj Junction on the way. Neither starts or ends there, and that shapes how you book in each direction — above all the journey home.

Daytime · chair car and executive chair car · a stop on both Delhi–Varanasi Vande Bharats
Chair car and executive chair car, in daylight the whole way. EC sells more slowly than CC and is often still open when chair car has gone — the first thing to check on a Magh Mela date. And because Prayagraj is a stop rather than the end of the line, your seat may come from a smaller share than end-to-end passengers draw on, in either direction. The letters on a waiting list (GNWL, RLWL, PQWL) tell you which, so send us the PNR before you decide to wait on it.
Going for the Magh Mela 2027? Every bathing day, the day booking opens for it, and the journey back.
Magh Mela train tickets →Who travels the Prayagraj Vande Bharat, and when
Kashi pilgrims, families and business travellers share these trains all year. The peaks are the Magh Mela bathing days, which in 2027 run from Makar Sankranti on 15 January to Mahashivratri on 6 March, with Mauni Amavasya on 6 February the biggest of all. On those dates both directions sell out early, and the return is usually the harder leg.
Booking the Prayagraj Vande Bharat without getting caught out
- Book the return at the same time. Coming back, you board a train that started at Varanasi, so you share its seats with Kashi pilgrims.
- Going for the Magh Mela? Travel the day before your snan. For Mauni Amavasya that is Friday 5 February, and booking opens on Monday 7 December.
- Coming from Ayodhya, Lucknow or Gorakhpur? The Gorakhpur–Prayagraj Vande Bharat runs via Ayodhya and Lucknow — the direct link on the Ayodhya–Prayagraj–Kashi circuit.

What our customers say
“Needed a Vande Bharat seat to Katra at short notice. They sorted it the same day.”
“I travel Delhi–Mumbai almost every week. When Tatkal sells out in seconds, these are the people I message. They have confirmed seats for me more times than I can count, on Rajdhani and Vande Bharat both.”
Prayagraj Vande Bharat, answered
Is there a Vande Bharat from Delhi to Prayagraj?+
Yes. Both Delhi–Varanasi Vande Bharats stop at Prayagraj Junction, each running six days a week. Neither starts or ends at Prayagraj, which matters most for the journey back to Delhi.
When does booking open for Mauni Amavasya 2027?+
Mauni Amavasya is Saturday 6 February 2027. If you travel the day before, booking for Friday 5 February opens on Monday 7 December 2026, 60 days ahead. Send us your dates before then and we book that morning.
Which Prayagraj station do the Vande Bharats use?+
Prayagraj Junction, about 8 km from the Sangam. The nearest station to the Sangam is Prayagraj Sangam, about 2.6 km away, served by trains from the Lucknow side. During the Mela, Railways changes entry routes at the junction, so allow extra time.
Can you book Ayodhya, Prayagraj and Varanasi as one trip?+
Yes. Vande Bharats link all three: the Gorakhpur–Prayagraj train via Ayodhya, and the Delhi–Varanasi trains onward from Prayagraj. We book every leg together, train tickets only, and tell you which leg is the tight one.
