Which Rajdhani Express class to actually book
3A is the workhorse and by far the easiest class to confirm — it carries the most coaches and generates the most cancellations. 2A fills considerably faster. 1A is the trap: most services run a single first-class coach, so the inventory is tiny and it books out before anything else. If you want 1A, you are effectively booking on day one of the window or not at all.
Book from the originating station so you sit in GNWL, which clears far better than the pooled and remote-location lists that intermediate halts put you into. Many Rajdhani services also run dynamic pricing, which means the fare climbs as the train fills — on this train type, booking early saves you money as well as securing the berth.
Booking a Rajdhani Express without getting caught out
- Want 1A? Book the day the window opens. One coach means the inventory is gone almost immediately.
- 3A waitlisted but 2A confirmed? On an overnight journey that is usually the right trade — take the confirmed berth.
- Tatkal for AC classes opens at 10:00 one day before travel. On a Rajdhani that window is measured in seconds, and we are at the keyboard for it.

Which Rajdhani class is easiest to get confirmed?+
3A, comfortably. It has the most coaches on the train, so both the initial inventory and the flow of cancellations are largest. 2A is noticeably tighter. 1A is usually a single coach and books out first — if that is what you want, you need to be booking the day the reservation window opens.
Is a Rajdhani waiting list worth holding?+
It depends on which list. A GNWL from the originating station on a long-haul Rajdhani accumulates cancellations across the full booking window and frequently clears. A remote-location list from an intermediate halt often does not, whatever the number looks like. Send us the PNR and we will tell you which one you are actually on.
Does the Rajdhani fare include food?+
Catering is generally included in the Rajdhani fare, which is part of why the headline price looks higher than a comparable mail or express service. Compare it against the fare plus meals rather than the fare alone.
