The rail desk for Mumbai's corporate travel teams
Mumbai runs more corporate rail volume than anywhere else in the country, and it runs it out of four terminals that behave nothing alike. We handle the booking, the quota strategy and the reconciliation — from our licensed desk in Delhi, because rail has never needed your agent to be down the road.
Four terminals, four different problems
Getting the terminal wrong is the most common and most expensive mistake in Mumbai corporate rail. These are not interchangeable.
Mumbai Central (MMCT)
The Delhi corridor — Rajdhani and the premium Western Railway services. Highest corporate demand in the city and the tightest availability, so bookings here need the most lead time.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)
Central Railway's heritage terminus, serving the south-east. Convenient for Fort and Nariman Point offices, but fewer premium departures than travellers expect.
Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT)
Kurla. Carries a large share of long-distance departures east and south. Well placed for BKC and Powai, badly placed for anyone starting in the western suburbs at rush hour.
Bandra Terminus (BDTS)
Serves Gujarat and Rajasthan and is the sensible boarding point for BKC, Andheri and the western suburbs — routinely overlooked in favour of a longer run to Mumbai Central.
Dadar, Thane & Kalyan
Intermediate halts that are often the faster boarding point for staff living north or in Navi Mumbai. Worth checking before defaulting to a terminus.
Where the demand comes from
Bandra Kurla Complex
Banking, consulting and pharma head offices. Heavy Delhi and Ahmedabad travel, premium classes, short notice.
Lower Parel & Worli
Media, agencies and financial services. Frequent Pune and Delhi movement, often booked same-week.
Andheri East, SEEPZ & MIDC
IT, exports and shared services. High volume, price-sensitive, large festival travel among staff.
Nariman Point & Fort
Legal, government-facing and older corporates. Traditional booking habits and a preference for a named contact.
Powai & Vikhroli
Technology campuses. Offsites and conference travel in groups, with LTT usually the right terminus.
Navi Mumbai & Thane
Manufacturing, logistics and back offices. Large group movement and the biggest festival-season demand in the MMR.
The corridors we book most from Mumbai
- Mumbai – Delhi (the premium corporate corridor, and the hardest to confirm late)
- Mumbai – Ahmedabad & Vadodara
- Mumbai – Pune (short, high-frequency, heavy weekday demand)
- Mumbai – Goa on the Konkan route
- Mumbai – Bengaluru & Hyderabad
- Mumbai – Nagpur, Varanasi & the eastern routes
Not every 'authorised agent' is the same
IRCTC registration is widely held and easy to obtain. A licence from Indian Railways is neither.
IRCTC Authorised Agent
Registration with IRCTC for e-ticketing. Low barrier to obtain and widely held across the trade — which is why, on its own, it tells you nothing about a vendor's depth.
YTSK (PPP) — licensed by Indian Railways
Not a registration with a subsidiary. A licence awarded by Indian Railways under the Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra public–private partnership, on terms carrying a substantial fee and deposit. Few ticketing operators hold one.
Us vs. the average train agent
Every row is something you can hold us to in the contract.
| Average train agent | Rail Yatri Suvidha Kendra | |
|---|---|---|
| Authorisation | IRCTC registration only | YTSK (PPP) licensed by Indian Railways, plus IRCTC authorised agent |
| Focus | Rail is one line among flights, hotels, visas and packages | Rail only. There is no other desk to prioritise over yours |
| Conflict of interest | Also sells flights and corporate travel — a live route to your client | No air desk, no packages, no corporate travel arm. We cannot become your competitor |
| Tatkal readiness | Best effort, whoever is free at the time | Agents at the terminal for the 10:00 AC and 11:00 Sleeper windows, every day |
| Waitlist handling | Booked, then left to the passenger to watch | Tracked to chart preparation, with status pushed to you rather than waiting to be asked |
| Quota strategy | Books whatever was asked for | GNWL, PQWL, RLWL and TQWL behave differently — we route bookings toward the ones that actually clear |
| Cancellations & TDR | Handed back to you to file | Filed, tracked and reconciled as part of the service |
| Invoicing | Ad hoc, per booking | Monthly, GST compliant, with a reconciliation statement in your format |
| Escalation | Whoever picks up the phone | A named contact, reachable when a passenger is stranded outside office hours |
| Peak season | Same capacity as any other month | Surge capacity planned for Chhath, Diwali, Holi and the summer rush |
What we take off your desk
Confirmed bookings
All classes — SL, 3E, 3A, 2A, 1A, CC, EC — across General and every reserved quota.
Tatkal & Premium Tatkal
The window is measured in seconds. We are at the keyboard for it, every day, not on request.
Waitlist & RAC
Tracked to chart preparation with an honest probability, not false comfort.
Group quota
Handled to Railway rules, with berths kept together as far as the system allows.
Cancellations, TDR & refunds
The admin an air-first desk would rather not carry. We carry it.
Peak-season overflow
Festival surge cover for when your own desk is at its limit.
Reconciliation
A monthly statement matching your records line by line, in your format.
Escalation cover
A named person for the call that arrives at 11pm about a stranded delegate.
From request to reconciliation
You send the request
Passenger details, route, date and class through whatever channel suits you — a shared inbox, a WhatsApp line, or a feed into your system.
We assess and quote
Availability checked across trains, dates and quotas. Where your first choice will not confirm, we come back with the options that will, and say so plainly.
You approve
Fare and service charge confirmed in writing before anything is booked. Nothing is booked without your go-ahead.
We book and return the PNR
Ticket and PNR back to you in the agreed format, ready to pass to your client under your own brand.
We hold the file
Waitlisted and RAC bookings tracked to chart preparation, with status pushed to you.
Month-end reconciliation
One statement — bookings, cancellations, refunds due, service charges — matching your records.
Request a proposal
Tell us your volume and we'll come back with service charge bands, credit terms and an SLA — not a generic brochure.
Group booking request
One journey, many passengers — offsites, conferences, weddings, educational and religious travel.
Asked by Mumbai & MMR teams
Do you have an office in Mumbai?+
No — our licensed desk is in Karol Bagh, New Delhi, and we say so plainly. It makes no practical difference to corporate rail. Indian Railways is one national reservation system: the booking, the quota work and the reconciliation are identical wherever the desk sits. What matters is the licence, the specialisation and whether someone answers when a delegate is stranded. A local office is a comfort, not a capability.
Which Mumbai terminal should our travellers use?+
It depends on the destination and where the traveller starts. Mumbai Central for the Delhi premium services, Bandra Terminus for Gujarat and Rajasthan and for anyone in the western suburbs, LTT for most long-distance eastern and southern departures, CSMT for the south-east and for Fort-area offices. We confirm the right one per booking rather than defaulting to whichever terminus is best known.
Can you handle the Mumbai–Delhi corridor at short notice?+
It is the hardest corporate route in the country to confirm late, and we will tell you honestly when a request has a poor chance rather than booking a waitlist and hoping. Where a date has flexibility we run alternatives across trains, quotas and boarding points to find what will actually confirm. Tatkal is staffed at 10:00 and 11:00 daily.
Do you cover Navi Mumbai and Thane?+
Yes — the whole Mumbai Metropolitan Region. For staff based in Navi Mumbai or Thane, boarding at Thane or Kalyan is often faster than travelling into a city terminus, and we flag that on the booking rather than leaving people to discover it on the day.
