The tricity's Tatkal splits between two starting stations. Chandigarh Junction starts the Chandigarh Shatabdi, the Vande Bharat to Ajmer, the trains to Lucknow and the long runs to Mumbai, Kerala, Goa and Bihar; Kalka, up the line, starts both Kalka Shatabdis and the Netaji Express to Howrah — and on those Chandigarh is only a stop.

For Delhi that means two sets of trains with separate Tatkal quotas: the Chandigarh-starting Shatabdi, Vande Bharat and Unchahar Express, and the Kalka-starting Shatabdis. When one sells out in seconds, the other may still be open. For Lucknow, both daily trains start in Chandigarh, so the tricity has the main share; for Howrah, the Netaji from Kalka is the one train.
Where to board for Tatkal
Chandigarh Junction for most journeys. Kalka for the Kalka Shatabdis and the Netaji — boarding there puts you on those trains' main quota. Mohali (SAS Nagar) starts nothing, though the Paschim Express, a Jan Shatabdi and the Amritsar trains stop there. Ambala Cantt, further out, is the big fallback junction but starts only a twice-weekly train to Barauni.
There's no need to go anywhere. Send the journey on WhatsApp the evening before and it is staged before the window opens.
Only a confirmed berth counts. RAC doesn't.

What time does Tatkal booking open?+
Tatkal opens one day before the journey date — generally 10:00 AM for AC classes and 11:00 AM for Sleeper and second seating. Note that it is one day before the date of travel, not the date of booking, which is where people most often miscount and miss the window entirely.
Can you book Tatkal for me?+
Yes — it is a large part of what the desk does daily. Send us the journey the day before travel, ideally the evening before so everything is staged before the window opens. We are at the terminal for both windows every day.
Why does my Tatkal attempt always fail?+
Almost always for one of three reasons: the quota is exhausted within seconds on contested trains, passenger details are being typed rather than pre-staged, or the payment takes longer than the seat hold. None of those is about luck, and all three are what an agent removes.
What is Premium Tatkal?+
A separate quota with dynamic pricing — the fare rises as it fills, so it costs more than ordinary Tatkal but frequently has availability when ordinary Tatkal has gone. On an unmissable journey it is often the right trade, and we will tell you honestly when it is not worth the difference.
Can I get a refund on a confirmed Tatkal ticket?+
Generally no — confirmed Tatkal tickets are not refundable on cancellation, other than in specific circumstances such as the train being cancelled or running very late. That is a Railways rule rather than ours, and it is worth knowing before you book, which is why we say it here rather than after you have paid. Our own promise is separate: if we cannot get you confirmed at all, you get your money back in full.
