Tatkal ticket booking in Chennai
Chennai splits its long-distance trains by direction. Chennai Central starts the trains north and west — Delhi, Howrah, Mumbai — and to Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Kerala; Egmore starts the trains south to Madurai, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari. Both are starting terminals, which is where a train's Tatkal berths usually sit. The berths Chennai people lose are on the trains that only pass through.

5★ · 500+ reviews · Confirmed berth or 100% refund — RAC doesn't count

Every train that starts in Chennai for Delhi leaves from Central. The Delhi trains from Madurai and Kanyakumari only call at Egmore, where Chennai gets a small remote-location share rather than the starting quota. Towards Bihar, almost nothing starts in the city: those trains come up from Bengaluru, Kerala and Coimbatore and stop at Perambur. The trains to Assam that do start here leave from Tambaram, not Central. Matching the journey to a train that starts in Chennai is most of the battle.
Where to board for Tatkal
Chennai Central for Delhi, Howrah, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Kerala; Egmore for the south of Tamil Nadu; Tambaram for the trains it starts to the Northeast. Egmore is being rebuilt, and some of its trains have started from Tambaram or Chennai Beach for weeks at a time — we check the starting station on your date before booking.
There's no need to go anywhere. Send the journey on WhatsApp the evening before, with the part of the city you're starting from, and it is staged before the window opens.
Only a confirmed berth counts. RAC doesn't.
App guarantees treat RAC as a success: you share a berth overnight and they pay nothing. We don't. If we can't deliver a confirmed (CNF) berth, you get a 100% refund, no questions asked — usually the same day, and always within 48 hours of asking — or the alternative that suits you better.

A desk built for a window measured in seconds
Staged before the window
Passenger details, route, class and quota are prepared in advance so nothing is being typed when the clock turns.
At the terminal, daily
Both windows, every day — not on request, and not as a favour. It is what the desk is set up to do.
More than one line of attack
Where a route has several viable trains, we work them in parallel rather than betting everything on the obvious one.
Premium Tatkal considered
Premium Tatkal carries dynamic pricing and often has availability when ordinary Tatkal has gone. We will tell you when the difference is worth paying and when it is not.
An honest read first
If your route and date have a poor chance even through Tatkal, we say so before you commit rather than after.
Confirmed, or refunded
If we cannot get you a confirmed berth, you receive a 100% refund.
What our customers say
“Messaged at 9:50 AM for a same-day AC Tatkal. They were ready at 10 sharp and I had a confirmed berth within minutes. A real person beats refreshing the app yourself.”
“Booked Tatkal for our whole family in one go on WhatsApp. Super smooth, kept us updated.”
Tatkal, answered straight
What time does Tatkal booking open?+
Tatkal opens one day before the journey date — generally 10:00 AM for AC classes and 11:00 AM for Sleeper and second seating. Note that it is one day before the date of travel, not the date of booking, which is where people most often miscount and miss the window entirely.
Can you book Tatkal for me?+
Yes — it is a large part of what the desk does daily. Send us the journey the day before travel, ideally the evening before so everything is staged before the window opens. We are at the terminal for both windows every day.
Why does my Tatkal attempt always fail?+
Almost always for one of three reasons: the quota is exhausted within seconds on contested trains, passenger details are being typed rather than pre-staged, or the payment takes longer than the seat hold. None of those is about luck, and all three are what an agent removes.
What is Premium Tatkal?+
A separate quota with dynamic pricing — the fare rises as it fills, so it costs more than ordinary Tatkal but frequently has availability when ordinary Tatkal has gone. On an unmissable journey it is often the right trade, and we will tell you honestly when it is not worth the difference.
Can I get a refund on a confirmed Tatkal ticket?+
Generally no — confirmed Tatkal tickets are not refundable on cancellation, other than in specific circumstances such as the train being cancelled or running very late. That is a Railways rule rather than ours, and it is worth knowing before you book, which is why we say it here rather than after you have paid. Our own promise is separate: if we cannot get you confirmed at all, you get your money back in full.
