Udaipur City, and the stop before it
Most trains call at Rana Pratap Nagar, 5 km before Udaipur City. In Delhi, the Udaipur trains leave from Hazrat Nizamuddin and Delhi Sarai Rohilla, not New Delhi.

Direct trains to Udaipur, by city
No Rajdhani, Shatabdi or Duronto runs to Udaipur, and there's no direct train from Jodhpur. The Udaipur–Jaipur and Udaipur–Agra Vande Bharats stopped running in February 2026.
From Delhi
Two daily overnight trains, about 12 to 13 hours: the Mewar Express from Hazrat Nizamuddin and the Chetak Express from Delhi Sarai Rohilla. The weekly Raj Humsafar is a little faster, Third AC and Sleeper only.
From Jaipur
Several daily trains, about 7½ hours on the fastest, some of them with chair car. Two start at Udaipur and two at Jaipur.
From Ahmedabad
Trains run from Asarva, not Ahmedabad Junction; the daily superfast takes about 5½ hours. A Surat–Udaipur Vande Bharat through Vadodara and Asarva was announced for October 2026. Ask us whether it's running on your date.
From Mumbai
One train, from Bandra Terminus, three days a week, about 15 to 17 hours overnight. It also stops at Borivali.
From Agra
The Khajuraho–Udaipur Express, daily, through Agra Cantt, Gwalior and Jhansi.
From Kolkata
Two weekly trains, the Ananya Express and a Shalimar train, a day and a half on the way. Nothing from Howrah.
The trip home starts at Udaipur
The Mewar and the Chetak start at Udaipur City, and so do two of the Jaipur trains, the Bandra train and the Asarva superfast. Book the return on one of them and the group is on the starting station's quota, with a plain waitlist (GNWL) if it comes to that. It opens 60 days before the return date, on its own morning.

Booking opens 60 days ahead at 8:00 AM. Christmas and New Year dates open between 25 October and 1 November, and the Republic Day weekend in the last week of November.

Wedding guests
Udaipur weddings run through the winter. Guests from Delhi travel together on one overnight train, booked on one morning.
School and college tours
December to February is tour season. Berths for the whole group, in as few coaches as the train allows.
Families and office trips
Christmas, New Year and the Republic Day weekend fill first, and offsites run January to March.
Booking an Udaipur group
From Delhi, both daily trains start in Delhi and finish in Udaipur, so both legs are booked on a starting station's quota.
A circuit with Jodhpur needs a change at Ajmer, or that leg by road. There's no direct train.
Rana Pratap Nagar is 5 km before Udaipur City, and the Delhi and Jaipur trains stop at both. We book to whichever is nearer your stay.
For a wedding, send the guest list by date, not as one block. Guests travelling on different days are different bookings, and each opens on its own morning.
Only a confirmed berth counts. RAC doesn't.

Not New Delhi. The Mewar Express starts at Hazrat Nizamuddin and the Chetak Express at Delhi Sarai Rohilla, both daily. The weekly Raj Humsafar also uses Sarai Rohilla, and a few part-week trains stop at Old Delhi.
How long is the train from Delhi to Udaipur?+
About 12 hours on the Chetak and about 13 on the Mewar, overnight. The weekly Raj Humsafar is a little under 12.
Is there a Vande Bharat to Udaipur?+
The Udaipur–Jaipur and Udaipur–Agra Vande Bharats stopped running in February 2026. A Surat–Udaipur Vande Bharat through Ahmedabad was announced for October 2026; ask us whether it's running on your date.
Is there a direct train from Jodhpur?+
No. Change at Ajmer, where several daily trains leave for Udaipur. Each leg is its own booking.
Can wedding guests on different dates be booked together?+
