Bengaluru Cantonment, in Vasanth Nagar, starts the Vande Bharats to Coimbatore and Madurai and is where almost every Chennai-bound train calls. KSR City or Cantonment?
Most trains from the centre start at KSR; most of those heading for Chennai also stop at Cantonment on the way out.
KSR Bengaluru City (SBC)
Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna station, beside Majestic, where the Purple and Green metro lines meet. It starts the daily Rajdhani to Hazrat Nizamuddin (no other stop in the city), the daily Karnataka Express to New Delhi, the Udyan to Mumbai, the Chennai Shatabdi, Lalbagh, Brindavan, Double Decker and Chennai Mail, the Vande Bharats to Ernakulam, Dharwad and Belagavi, the Island Express to Kanyakumari, the Prashanthi to Bhubaneswar and the Mysuru intercities. No regular train to Howrah, Patna or Goa starts here.
Bengaluru Cantonment (BNC)
In Vasanth Nagar, near Frazer Town and Shivajinagar. It starts the Vande Bharats to Coimbatore (via Hosur) and Madurai (via KR Puram). Almost every KSR train to Chennai stops here, as do the Karnataka Express, the Udyan, the Island Express and the Prashanthi. The Rajdhani, the Mysuru Shatabdi and the Ernakulam Vande Bharat don't. Its Pink Line metro station isn't open yet.

The first phase of yard works at KSR finished in August 2026, and works at both stations have moved trains to other terminals for days or weeks at a time — we confirm the starting station for your date.

Yes — the Bengaluru Rajdhani starts at KSR daily and makes no other stop in the city. During yard works in August 2026 it started from Yesvantpur for a few days, so we confirm the starting station for your date.
KSR or Cantonment for Chennai?+
Almost every KSR train to Chennai — the Shatabdi, Lalbagh, Brindavan, Double Decker and Chennai Mail — also stops at Cantonment, which is closer for Shivajinagar and Frazer Town. The Mysuru–Chennai Shatabdi and Vande Bharats don't stop at Cantonment; in Bengaluru they call only at KSR, and one of them at KR Puram.
Do any trains to Howrah or Patna start at KSR?+
Not regular ones. The Howrah Duronto and the daily Bihar trains start at SMVT Bengaluru, whose metro station is Baiyappanahalli on the Purple Line — the same line as Majestic.
